About Our Staff
Michelle Westbrook – Owner Michelle, owner of Home Care Assistance Redondo Beach is a VP of Business Development for Vestagen Technical Textiles, a leader in helping to fight hospital acquired infections, which take over a hundred thousand lives each year.
Michelle’s Father passed away from a hospital acquired infection (MRSA), after spending a lifetime fighting for his country as an Airborne Colonel in the Army, and over a decade battling Parkinson’s Disease. Michelle knew joining Vestagen was her calling after she looked to try and “make a difference” after selling and servicing to the healthcare market for over twenty-five years with Cintas Corporation. The senior population is often hit the hardest by these infections. This is because their immune systems can be weakened while in hospitals or other non-acute facilities (for example nursing homes, skilled care or assisted living) and they are exposedto a large number of individuals (nurses, other patients or residents).
Over the last decade plus, Michelle’s Father needed personal care assistance, and her Mom was the primary caregiver. This took a toll on her Mother not only physically but emotionally, and the family dynamics changed from Michelle’s Mom being foremost her husbands’ bride and the mother of six grown children, to her husband’s caregiver.
Michelle’s Mom grew tired mentally and physically and when her Father went into an Assisted Living Facility, she opted to stay in her home. Had Michelle and her siblings known at the time that nine out of ten seniors prefer to stay in their homes, and about Home Care Assistance’s unique approach that provides quality care that enables older adults to live happier, healthier lives at home, the latter years of their parents’ lives could have been more enriched and they would have been able to stay together.
Michelle is the mother of two sons, Shane and Kyle and one daughter, Nicole who is beginning her freshman year at Mira Costa High School in Manhattan Beach. When Michelle’s husband Steve, and son Shane approached her about their desire to run a Home Care Assistance location in Redondo Beach, she was thrilled that her family shared her passion to offer a new alternative to seniors like her parents. She knew that her husband and son would truly make a difference to families throughout the South Bay and would help to “Change the Way the World Ages” one life at a time.

Shane returned to the U.S. with a hunger to touch the lives of those in need.
HCA has given him the opportunity to do so with the Senior community, which is close to his heart having experienced his late Grandfather’s struggle with Parkinson’s Disease.
